2011 Highlights!

2011 is all done! A pretty amazing year from start to finish, fantastic clients with some great weddings and super moments. I’ve spent a bit of time over the last couple of weeks trying to pull some of my favourite moments together. It wasn’t easy as I’m sure not many people want to sit through a 20 minute video!
In short, this was my 2011 wedding season, enjoy!


Exploring New Orleans!

Each year I attend the DWF convention, a close knit community of wedding photographers that get together annually. It’s an amazing experience to network, attend a wide array of seminars and a chance to really look at avery angle of the business. This year the convention was based in New Orleans, cool huh! Not that I wouldn’t have gone anyway but who wouldn’t be somewhat excited to check out New Orleans!
After the few days of the convention Katie flew over to join me, with a couple of days together we explored everything from the cemeteries and mansions in the Garden District to the historic and colorful French Quarter. We also attended a cooking class and had some amazing meals, there are no shortages of fantastic restaurants! I packed the most minimal of camera gear (more like a tourist and not my usual setup!). Below are a few of our snapshots along the way…

A December Trash the Dress Session!

Tracy & John eloped to Bermuda a couple of weeks back where they were wed on Elbow Beach. Tracy had contacted me before hand, super keen about doing a trash the dress session on the beach. I was of course skeptical, the week leading up to the day was dreadful weather, there was seaweed strewn everywhere and the beach had suffered major erosion. Thankfully the day of was perfect, crystal clear and calm!  Not that anything was going to stop them from a cool swim in full wedding attire, they absolutely loved every minute as you can see from the images below. What a super fun couple! Congratulations Tracy and John!!




Wedding Album Awesomeness!

The other day I got to do one of the absolute BEST parts of my job. I delivered Kristine and Mike their wedding album. After months of working together, shooting their engagement session, numerous meeting and emails along with extensive wedding coverage the album represents the final chapter. It wraps up everything special about their day into one stunning package.
The album was designed around some of their favorite images and based on the cover design of their choice. Built by hand from the finest materials and intended to become a family heirloom for generations to come it really is a special piece.

Kate & Scott – Married at Pompano!

The final wedding of my season and easily one of my favorites. Kate & Scott had agreed to see each other beforehand and after a few tense moments of not so patiently waiting Scott was presented with his stunning bride. Their were gasps, cheers and clapping from a ll around it really was a beautiful moment.
Shortly after we were wished off to Horseshoe Beach for some bridal party fun, a stiff breeze and relentless sun made for a bit of a challenge really though a small price to pay to have Horseshoe all to yourself, another advantage of an off season wedding! It was a perfect November day, cool and crisp. Kate had put in so much effort and thought of every detail, there was such an abundance of photos to be had. With the sun setting we toured the property making the most of the fading light.
A perfect end to a perfect wedding. Congratulations Kate & Scott! xo
 




Patricia & Chris – 11.11.11- Wedding at Blu

One of my favorite parts of any wedding is when (and if) the couples agree to see each other prior to the ceremony, it can be such a fun and intimate moment for the couple. Patricia and Chris were no exception, I met up with the bridal party at Newstead where the girls were getting ready. The reveal played out perfectly and we had some fun with what sun was available. Due to the unpredictable November wedding the ceremony went on inside Blu with friends and family gathered around, between showers we managed to get a bit more outside time in. The rest of the night was filled with lots of celebration!

Katie & Brendan, Engagement Session at Tuckers Point

Katie & Brendan are in the process of planning a beautiful wedding for September 2012. While visiting Bermuda a couple of weeks back meeting with vendors I had the opportunity to get to know them by way of an engagement shoot. Definitely something I recommend to my clients if it’s an option. We leisurely explored the amazing Tuckers Point Hotel and Beachclub which this time of year is so different from the summer, the light, colours and tones are so soft and fresh!




Jenni & Martin – November Wedding!

Rain, thunderstorms and torrential rain couldn’t stop Jenni and Martin’s wedding from being one of the most special I’ve eve witnessed. Under the rickety roof at Breezes there was so much emotion and love as their ceremony played out that not a single person noticed the blustery weather outside. With no option of outside shots we headed up to the hotel for some family and bridal pictures. After a set of moving speeches there was a whole lot of partying in the deep, so much fun!
